About ESL

Want to develop confidence in speaking English while you are at the University of Kentucky? Your proficiency in spoken English will help you succeed in your career.

To help you with your career goals, the Department of Graduation and Family Housing at the University of Kentucky sponsors free weekly English as Second Language (ESL) classes for their residents.

The classes focus on conversational English - speaking and listening skills - as well as vocabulary expansion and some grammar development. Each class is different so you can come to as many classes or as few as you want. Classes are taught by skilled volunteer teachers who love to help internationals speak English.

We have fun, develop close relationships, and learn about American culture as we discuss interesting topics.

There is no registration required. Just please come and bring a friend!

Please know that these classes are not connected in any way to the UK CESL (Center for English as a Second Language). Because our program is not academic or professional, we do not offer certificates, grades, tests or transcripts. Our schedule is also different from the CESL.
